Posted on Sat, 13 Sep 2014
Question: Hello, I was digging in the dirt and got bite by an insect on my middle finger. I had just a puncture wound that hurt pretty badly at first. I then had swelling, stiffness and joint pain. I took doxycycline for almost a month and six months later i still have some swelling, stiffness and joint pain. I don't know what kind of insect bite it was. What type of doctor should I go see? What do think I ought to do at this point? Thank you so much for your help!!!

Detailed Answer:
welcome to Health care magic.
I Am Dr Ganesh.

1. The most possible cause of the symptoms you are facing are related to the punctured wound that you had earlier after the insect bite.

2. There are no signs and symptoms in your history suggest the insect bite, It might me a general insect which has no role in infection / symptoms.

3. In this case, i would recommend to see your GP and let the doctor examine, and evaluate the cause. An X-ray to MRI may need to done, depending on the examination findings.

4.An orthopedics specialist will help you in joint, bone related pathologies.

5.At this point see your GP and let him guide you accordingly.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
