Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Elbow

default
Posted on Mon, 19 May 2014
Question: I have had swelling in my elbow since last Thursday, along with redness and sensitivity to the touch. I have been taking ibuprofen for inflammation and discomfort, and just finish a dose of z-PAC antibiotics in case there was infection going on. My elbow seemed to be doing ok, but today the redness has spread throughout my arm and the swelling Is getting worse again. What can you do to help me figure out what the cause may be and resolve this.

Brief Answer:
Aspiration and microbiological examiantion needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query.

You need to get aspiration of fluid from elbow swelling and the send it for culture and microscopic examination. Simply taking antibiotics will not help you.

Apply beta-dine ointment over the swelling then apply crepe bandage over it.

Till then take painkillers like ibuprofen.

Get your xray of affected elbow in AP and Lateral view done and send me the report along with report of fluid.

Do not touch the swelling area repeatedly just go to ER and there doctor will do all this I have explained to you.

I hope it helps.
