Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Jaw

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Feb 2017
Question: I've got a lump like swelling under my jaw. This was formed after an injury while playing football, a year ago. It sometimes gets bigger (mostly when it is cold, noticed during winters) and pains on touching. While rest of the time it appears as a small bulge without any pain. It appears rubber like and movable while touching.
I want to know, if it could have any complicacy or any future problem. How will this get removed completely.

Brief Answer:
Can be a fibroma.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The lump like swelling under the jaw after an injury in the area is likely to be a fibrosed mass that forms as a part of scarring.it pains in winters due to the muscle stiffness and lack of elasticity. it is usually a benign swelling that remains like that for many years. The pain will subside with mild pain killers and hot compress.
To remove the swelling completely surgical removal is the best option. if you do not want a surgery done then wait till it gradually reduces in size over years. in case the swelling becomes red and inflamed or increases in size then it indicates an infection and needs proper examination by your physician.
