Question: I have a swelling of my left foot. The swelling is at the top of the foot. It hurts whenever I put weight on the foot. What do you think is the cause of the swelling and pain?
Brief Answer:
Needs further evaluation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting the query.
I have gone through your question in detail.
if you have sustained a recent trauma, then the swelling may be due to a ligament sprain or a bony fracture in the foot.
If there was no history of trauma, then the swelling may be due to raised serum uric acid levels ( Gout ) or any kind of soft tissue swelling like tenosynovitis, cellulitis etc.
Before coming to a conclusion,i would like to know a few things-
1.Was there any recent foot injury?
2.Is the swollen area warm?
3.How big is the swelling?
4.Is the swollen area red?
If possible,do upload a photograph of the foot here so that we can quickly come to a diagnosis.
Feel free to ask me any follow up queries that you may have.
Will wait for the photograph and answers to the above questions.
Thank you.
Kind regards.
