Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Legs And Stiff Joints

I think your medication is fine but you missed your thrombolytic treatments like aspirin pill or
heparin like medications for your veins and your leg elevation is very effective in most of cases , Doppler U/S are the best diagnostic tools for such cases .

Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..
In my opinion i think you might have a kind of a vascular problem as you mentioned swelling in both your knees together and not the injured one , hot bathes , creams , compression stockings are helpful for the swelling.
From your given history you also mentioned hardness and discoloration in your veins which may show a sign of blood stasis which actually is dangerous if not treated properly .
For my patients i may recommend painkillers like advil tabs when needed as they will help in both your pain and your swelling by their anti-inflammatory actions , hot massages with topical gels , B12 vitamin supplements and muscle relaxants will be helpful in most of cases for your stiff knees and your pain .
I recommend a Doppler U/S on both your lower limbs to exclude any vascular injuries like DVT ( deep vein thrombosis ) as it may be very dangerous if not treated and may cause severe complications which sometimes is fatal , if you ave a blood clot and it interferes with your blood back flow towards the heart like pulmonary showers myocardial infarction or any other thrombosis if that clot moved through your blood circulation .
For now i recommend wearing your compression stockings , elevate both your feet , hot massages with creams , aspirin pill daily after breakfast to prevent further clotting and decrease the liability for more clots to be formed , avoid standing for a long time , bad sleeping or sitting postures , vigorous movements and avoid obesity and heavy lifting will be effective in most of cases .
If swelling and pain persists you need to have some laboratory investigations to exclude any cardiac problems like hypertension and Doppler U/S and follow them up with your hematologist for proper evaluation and management .

Your welcome ,
I hope you feel better soon , you may use your medications and try spinal straightening exercises , hot massaging with topical gels , B12 vitamin supplements and avoid bad sleeping , sitting postures and you will be fine .
If this pain persists and interfered in your daily activities , follow up your MRI reports with your neurologist for physical examination and proper management , in most of cases medical and physical treatments are effective but in more chronic or severe cases minor endoscopic interventions may be mentioned by your neurosurgeon or even spinal fixation by rods and plates to prevent nerve compression .
I personally recommend you to lower your weight , spinal straightening exercises , physiotherapy and a low profile of medications when needed will be more than enough in your case .
