Suggest Treatment For Swelling On The Elbows

Question: I fell backwards pulling a box across the floor and fell on my elbow from about 3 feet. This morning it was swollen. I tried cold compress but this seemed to make it larger and harder.
Doesn't hurt, just swollen?
Doesn't hurt, just swollen?
Brief Answer:
using an anti inflammatory agent may help
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Swelling is part of the body's inflammatory response. It can be delayed in some cases. Symptoms and signs of trauma can worsen by day 3 to 4 then plateau for a period of time, then regress.
The entire period can take 2 to 6 weeks.
Even though there is no pain, since the swelling is part of the body's inflammatory response, the use of anti inflammatory medication may help eg naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen, if you can use these types of medication.
You can also try the use of a warm compress to see if this helps, this can be applied for 15 to 20 mins, 2 to 3 times a day.
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
