My belly has been bloated for the last couple of years and within the last year it is awful. I look like im several months pregnant. When i eat is continues to get bigger. I fell like im going to burst and stomach is very hard..Ive had scans done where i drink a milky substance..result was my system moves very slow..they found something that was narrowed in my stomach-cant remember what..i get horrible stomach aches that takes a couple days to get better..not related to pancreatitis within the last month my belly and lower pelvis is so bloated i seriously look 9 mths pregnant..cant wear jeans..im constantly constipated now on top of this
Brief Answer:
Gastroparesis could be the cause
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dear ms,
From the description given it is likely to be due to Gastroparesis: It is slow transit time of stomach and intestine causing feeling of early satiety and distension of abdomen.
The cause of constipation is likely to be due to
1. Low intake of water
2. Reduced intake of finer
3. Co-existing painful anal condition like anal fissure
Have you put on weight or only the abdominal area appear distended ?
The white material which you are made to drink is Barium and the investigation is Barium meal folio through .
I would suggest you the following
1. Gastroscopy
2. Nuclear scan for finding out gastric emptying time
3. Endocrine workup to rule it out as the cause of weight gain
4. Trial of Gastric motility increasing drug like Domperidone and Erythromycin.
5. Ensure adequate intake of water
6. High fiber diet
Take Care
