Suggest Treatment For Swollen Foreskin

Question: My son has just presented with a swollen foreskin (almost balloon like). Doesn't hurt to urinate, a little itchy, not a lot of redness. I'm thinking infection, have applied Bactroban. Am I doing the right thing?

HI,
1. Is the foreskin retracted and the glans is visualized?
2. Or the foreskin is on the glans and swollen?

Both have different significance.

If the foreskin is swollen and retracted above the glans (head) , this is paraphimisos and pulling skin down on the glans is the only need.

If the glans is not seen and the foreskin is swollen this may be an allergic reaction, usually settles well on its own.
Fine- no problem with bactroban.
