Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Node On Armpits

Question: I have a bump on my armpit. At first I thought it might be an ingrown hair. However, I could not find an ingrown hair. Then I thought it must be a swollen lymph node. Over the past week or more, the lump has gotten smaller. However, as the lump has gotten smaller, I can now feel a hard area above & below the lump. Other area that I can now feel is at least 2 inches long. It kindof feels like a tendon in my wrist feels, for lack of being able to think of anything else to compare it to. I'm a 44 year old female & haven't ever experienced this before.

Brief Answer:
Could be hydradenitis suppurativa
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I read your query. According to history it could be 2 possibilities. One is hydradenitis suppurativa and another is matted lymph nodes. Both are common in armpit.
In your case, if the skin over the swelling is discolored then that goes in favor of hydradenitis. If the skin over the swelling is normal then it goes in favor of lymph nodes enlargement.
I suggest you to consult doctor to confirm diagnosis and if needed needle biopsy of the swelling and also to rule out breast lump. Treatment depends accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. If any further queries are there I would love to help.
