Posted on Mon, 17 Apr 2017
Question: last 10 weeks, a hard moveable lymph node on the submental along the sternocleido mastoid. Had a back molar on the same side that was hurting for months after mercury removal and a crown put in, which never felt right but not enough to take it out. When I started feeling the lymph node, I took it out last week today. Gland still swollen. Suggestion please?

Brief Answer:
Lymphnodes need 3-6 months to return to normal size

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your.

A swollen lymphnode after an infection will need 3-6 months to return to normal size even after the infection has been treated. So it is normal that you still feel it, but it should gradually start feeling smaller until it gets smaller then 1 cm.

If you are wondering if this can be something more dangerous then I would say:
- Lymphnodes from cancers are irregular in shape, in packets, not tender and not movable.
Anyway if it doesn't get smaller in size in few weeks, consider following it up by doing further tests like biopsy, ect.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

That was my gut sense and your answer will help me sleep better and not get concerned, I appreciate, thank you.

I am feeling so much better without the tooth, I got my energy back and that is also why I was not getting too worried, but there is nothing like an expert guidance to confirm what we feel inside.

After doing some research, I knew that the fact that it was quite XXXXXXX and nicely round couldn't be a bad thing/the worst case scenario we all fear.

I had an inflammatory process and my body was protecting me from a bad issue, so I will thank my lymph nodes for that and wait until my immune system has totally resolved and that the lymph node comes back to normal.

And thank you again for your expert advice and the regained peace!! God Bless
