Question : I was hospitalized last week for diverticulitis. Last night I had a few itchy spots. This morning my tongue is swollen, throat is sore at the top back of my throat, and am having difficulty pronouncing my words. The two medications I am taking are Metronidazole and Ciprofloxacin. Hello. This is an allergic reaction, possibly to one of the antibiotics you're taking. I'm concerned about the swollen tongue since that may lead to an anaphylactic allergic reaction so you need to let your doctor know about this right now. You may need a cortisone injection.
