Suggest Treatment For Symptoms In Head When Having Neck Disc Problems
Your symptoms are caused by vessels blockage.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns
If you suffer from cervical spondylosis your head symptoms are caused by two things:
1. irritation of a spinal nerve because nerve can be pinched or compressed by cervical vertebrae,
2. vertebral artery blockage and change in the blood flow as the result of discs degeneration.
And that's the reason why you can feel headache, visual disturbance, nausea and the most common vertigo.
I would order for base line:
- an X-ray of the neck which will show aging changes
- carotid and vertebral artery Doppler ultrasound to check arteries condition.
Your local doctors will know about this test.
I advise my patients to use non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), muscle relaxant and physical therapy. Surgery is reserved for patients who have severe pain that has not been relieved by other treatment.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
pressure on the nerves
Detailed Answer:
The spine is made up of: vertebrae, discs, spinal cord and nerve roots.
As you get older, the discs dry out and become more sensitive to damage. So your body will try to compensate this by producing small lumps of "extra" bone. After this your spine starts to be too rigid. This lumps also cause narrowing of the spinal column or in the openings where spinal nerves and vessels exit. And that's why you may feel pain and stiffness.
Summary: You feel stiffness because the discs is pressing on the nerves and make spasm of the muscles.
Thank You. Best wishes.
