Firstly, thank you so much for taking time out to answer my query.
Please find below answers to your questions-
1.Is there pain on both sides of the jaw or any one side, or is pain on any one side more than the other side?
A: Pain is on the left side only. Noting felt on the right side.
2.Is there clicking sound on opening and closing the jaw?
A: Not always, difficult to say. Very faint on the left side, but rare.
3. Is the mouth opening restricted or reduced?
A: Compared to before yes. Gap of only two fingers between my lower and upper teeth.
4. Is the pain always present or only on chewing?
A: Since I've been on pain killer and meds its not there. I skipped the med last night and there was discomfort even while chewing.

TMJ on left side, needs medication as well as mouth guard/occlusal splint..
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome Again..
Thanks for the reply..
As per your answers as well as co-relation with your x-ray it seems like forward displacement of the condyle of the mandible [portion of the lower jaw that takes part in making jaw joint with base of skull]..
The treatment advised to you, that is wearing mouth guard is a correct line of treatment as it will help in gradually re-positioning of the jaw..
You will also be advised to continue taking the medication to relieve pain..
So, it will be better to start with the treatment for faster resolution..
Any further queries are welcome..
Thanks and regards.
