Question: Hi,
I've been having this nasty cough in my system for the past two and 1/2 weeks. Sometimes it is minimal; sometimes it is really bad. One thing remains the same, though. I am constantly coughing. I have been losing sleep and I have lost a few pounds. What is going on with me?

Brief Answer:
Better to get done chest x ray first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of lung infection or bronchitis is more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest X Ray
3. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest X Ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis. You may need antibiotics, inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Don't worry, you will be alright. Better to first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
