Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Gallbladder Disease

Question: My question deals with the flu, food poisoning, or pancreatitis...

I've asked a few times on this site about this ache that comes after eating on my upper right side (that's most noticeable when I'm sitting down). Well yesterday, I ate a not so healthy breakfast, 4 rolled tacos, beans, and rice. On my way home I felt more and more nauseous. I haven't thrown up but had this incredible stomach ache all day yesterday. I also had diarrhea a few hours later I should mention. Why I mention pancreatitis is because I also noticed that same area would ache but constantly yet not as strong as when I eat something.

I've met with my gastro doc and he says that he doesnt think it's anything cancerous. He did note from blood work that my trypsin count was low, causing me to need to take addition enzymes.

My fear is something very serious going on and this meal is just exposing it (like pancreatic failure) or is just maybe a bad meal or a bug?

Brief Answer:
Get your gall bladder checked!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed your information fully. This is suggestive of a possible gall bladder disease. Best initial test is an abdominal ultrasound. I will suggest you get one as a preliminary investigation and report findings to me. This will help in orienting further investigations towards establishing a diagnosis.

Low trypsin levels may be suggestive of chronic pancreatitis. This should be accompanied by poor digestion and diarrhea. These really seem absent in your case. Also, the location of this pain is not typical for pancreatic related pain.

However, if this is the first time you observed this pain, food poisoning is a possibility. For this, I suggest increased fluids intake and rest. Avoid taking any drugs to stop the diarrhea as resolution is often spontaneous without need fro any aggressive medical intervention.

For now, increased fluids and monitor only. Report progress for further evaluation and recommendations if symptoms persist.

I wish you well. Keep me posted.

I dont have my gallbladder anymore.
I should have mentioned that.
It was removed in 2005.
Ive had this pain for quite some time and its not diarrhea specifically that follows, but more specifically that i have to use the restroom quickly after eating. The initial fear of mine was some type of cancer, but i do not know .

Brief Answer:
This is no cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your symptoms are not suggestive of any cancers. with this added information of no gall bladder, that explains why you are having difficulties with digestion. avoiding fatty and heavy meals would be very helpful. I will also suggest that you get the pancreatic enzymes measured as you might have had bouts of recurrent acute pancreatitis that explain the indigestion effects.

keep me posted on this. I wish you well.
