Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Migraine

They seem to start at the base of the back of my neck on the right side only. It works it's way up the right side of my face to the top of the head. The pain includes my jaw and right eye that waters and sinus. They last any where between 20 and 40 minutes. No drugs help it at all. The pain is debilitating. Many times I have thrown up with it. All I can do is pace and massage my neck and pray. My doctor blows it off and offers no opinion on the matter. I don't think he believes me. I'm doing PT twice a week for a bad back and spinal problems particularly my neck and L4 injury with arthritis Dx by an MRI. All though my back is getting better, the headaches continue on a frequent bases. I'm getting real worried about them. My Physical therapist has no answer for me either. He says he doesn't have a referral for that problem. My husband, a physician, thinks they may be "cluster HA". Please advise on what I should do. I worry about a tumor or something serious. Thanks
These all symptoms and signs can occur in migraine.

Hello,
Welcome to the HCM.
Thankyou for your question.
Dear the signs and symptoms you have mentioned can happen in migraine.A type of headace which is actualy occur as small vessels constriction in brain. It is very common in women. Can be related to hormonal imbalance (estrogen;menopause) or stress and runs in families.
Migraine itself has types like some have just headache and some have other associated symptoms like watering of eyes, back pain, neck pain, vomiting, sensitivity to light ,noise and so on.
I would like to ask ,what medicines you have tried particularly for your headache? Are you taking any hormonal replacement therapy ?Have you other symptoms associated like;flushing, heating, sweating alot or irritation problem?
Hopefully I could help you further and would be able to clarify more after knowing the answers of above questions.
Wish you best of health.

Had a complete hysterectomy in 2000. I'm not taking any hormones. No, I don't have any other symptoms than what I stated. However, when the headache is over, I'm physically and mentally whiped out. I usually just go to bed for the rest of the day and night. I fall asleep fast and go into a deep sleep. For years I've had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Thanks. XXXXXXX
First you may need some routine tests.

Hello;
Welcome again.
Dear dont worry ,as I said migraine is common especialy among women. And what your symptoms and signs you have mentioned in the history, I doubt about migraine.Commonly it is treated with tryptans, ergots with metoclopromide .If pain is not subsides then opioid medications with codiene can help decrease the pain. But before taking prescription ,I would suggest that you might need some routine investigations with B.P and sugar checkup to avoid any complications.
Besides above medications ,I would suggest avoid stress, cola drinks, chocholates, cafeine ,cheese and processed food to prevent from triggering the headache.Start some light exercise like morning walk or yoga would also help.
Hopefully my answer will be helpfull for you,you may ask further ,if I need to clarify you more.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari
