Suggest Treatment For Tailbone Pain

I have some tailbone pain, at least I think it's the tailbone, I feel pain if I poke it but theres also a bit of pain if I squeeze my upper right buttock, left buttock no pain. The pain is usually only there when sitting and leaning back, if I'm walking, running or standing etc I dont feel it, or even sitting but leaning forward. I've had this for about 6 weeks or so, some days are better than others but it wont seem to go and sitting on hard surfaces or seats especially is very tough and aggravates it a lot. In the last few days I've had a tiny bit of stinging when urinating too, not hugely painful but I know it's there so am slightly worried. I've booked an appointment with my local doctor but it's not for a few weeks yet. Could you offer any advice in the mean time please?
I'm male, 33, 5'7, 150lbs. And dont recall injuring the tailbone, falling over or anything.
Thanks so much!
Tail bone pain/coccydynia
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic,
Tail bone pain/coccydynia is commonly observed due to bad posture while sitting.
Here are few remedies you can try--
-Lean slightly forward while sitting down.
-Place your feet flat on the floor while sitting
-Continue taking Ibuprofen for the time being
-You can alternately apply heat and Ice on the area of pain
-Always sit on a comfortable chair. Avoid hard surfaces
-Use doughnut pillow while sitting
You can follow up with your doctor as already scheduled. Persistent tailbone pain needs further evaluation with Xray and MRI scanning.
Hope this answers your questions
