Suggest Treatment For Thick Endometrial Lining In A Post Menopausal Woman
Question: I am post menopausal, 82 years of age. A pelvic ultrasound indicated an abnormally thickened endometrium of 6.7 mm. A biopsy of the endometrium was negative for cancer. A second ultrasound a year later indicated a thickness of 7 mm. It has been recommended that I get another biopsy. And that I have another imaging with pelvic ultrasound and water pumped in. Another recommendation was to just go ahead and get a D & C under anesthesia. What do you think of these options? What is the standard practice? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
follow up is also fine.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
The endometrial lining was bit thickened but biopsy was negative. In one year it stayed the same. So possibility of cancer is very low.
Unless you have any symptoms like bleeding, I would just do follow up. Repeat biopsy may be unnecessary. But if your doctor insists, just d&c biopsy may be enough.
Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
