Question: I have a mild tear of the iliofemoral ligament that occurred in 2014 but is still not healed. Climbing up stairs and walking up inclines is painful. Should I be resting it still after all these years or should I be strengthening it?

Brief Answer:
Investigation required to find the cause of pain.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.

Iliofemoral ligament injuries do heal in about 6-8 weeks. If pain is present, then we have to look for some other cause .

I suggest you consult an orthopedic surgeon for complete examination and get an MRI of the hip.

Start mild pain killers and muscle relaxants in the meantime. Rest will not be of any benefit rather you should be strengthening the hip muscles.

I hope to have answered your question. Please feel free to ask any further questions.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
