my boy is 2 n half months old... few weeks back he has developed umbilical hernia which is getting bigger day by day.... although dat lump is soft n non tender m bit tensed about it... what should i do...
and also sometimes he refluxes some milk or curd ... even after taking burp.... i m so much concerned... what should i do....
Usually this will settle by itself - don't worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... umbilical hernia in quite common issue in some new born babies, nothing to worry about it. If the hernia is spontaneously going in and it is larger it means that the chances of it going into an intestinal obstruction is meagre.
The more narrower the opening, more are the chances of intestinal obstruction.
Usually the hernia will subside by itself as the baby rolls over on the abdomen by 5 to 6 months of age.
I suggest that you upload an image of the umbilical hernia, so that I can see it directly assess the size and then suggest you accordingly.
I am asking for image because, if the hernia is very large and protruding, then it might require surgical intervention.
