Question: My adult son had a tramatic brain injury when he was 19 yr old. He is now 51 and I am his guardian since his Dad passed in Nov. I moved him from Ne to Ny. He is having violent outbursts at me and my husband. They seem to come out of no where. He lives alone across the street and we never know what his mood will be. He is either joking and happy or very mad at either one of us. I took him to a neurologist who scheduled a electro encephologram for XXXXXXX He suggest phychiatric help and we have contacted the one he said and they can't help us. Then I contacted the state of NY as suggested and they can't help either I don't know who to see or what to do. XXXX

Brief Answer:
he needs indoor management at psychiatric nursing home

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

Thanks for writing to us.

I can understand your concern.

His symptoms of violent outburst and mood changes are suggestive of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder or any psychotic disorder. These are related to his brain injury or not that only can be confirmed after detail history, examination and seeing brain scan reports.
If you can provide me above details(symptoms profile, onset of illness, any past treatment etc. with reports if available), I can give some more comments.

He at present needs indoor management at psychiatry nursing home.
Please let me know your exact location so I can provide you some help to find out psychiatrist near to you.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

I will be waiting to hear from you. Thank you.. XXXX
He has never been seen for any of these things. His Father never believed he needed it. We were divorced when XXXXXXX was 16. His Dad and I kept in contact and we each shared in his care but I had no authority until I got legal guardianship, since his Dad passed away in Nov.
