Suggest Treatment For Voice Hoarseness Post Recovery From Laryngitis
Question: Was ill with virus.. Sever vomiting and diarrhea for about 12 hours. I have very bad laryngitis and hoarseness. I am 2 days out and voice has not recovered. Is there anything I can do, afraid my voice will be like this forever. Did I burn my vocal cords with stomach acid?
Brief Answer:
Hoarseness
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that your voice has changed since having episodes of vomiting. You definitely could have burned and irritated the vocal cords from your vomiting. It may take up to 1 week to resolve. The best medicine is resting your voice. If your voice is not better in 1 week then you may need additional medication like a steroid inhaler. The steroid inhaler will reduce any vocal cord swelling and return your voice to normal. There are no OTC steroid inhalers so you will need to see your medical provider if you still are hoarse in 1 week
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
