Brief Answer:
Exercise and healthy diet are useful, think for alternative of paxil

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

I can understand your concern.

Paxil can cause weight gain. With abilify chances of weight gain are the least.

Since you are stable with two medicines, stopping it is not the right choice. In this situation reduction in weight by calorie deficit is the best option. Calorie deficit means to take less calorie than required or to burn more calorie than consumed.
You can do it by doing exercise daily. Start with walking. Start with 1 mile per day. Gradually increase and reach up to 3 miles per day. Gradually you can convert walking in to running which burnt more calories.

Simultaneously you can reduce your diet in terms of calorie. Do not take fatty food, avoid potato, take more fruits - vegetables.
You can check all details regarding food calorie on internet and change accordingly. Or ask your doctor to refer you to some nutritionist.

This approach requires good motivation and dedication to make it daily schedule of your life.

In case you can not use this approach, you should ask your doctor to taper of paxil. If reduction of paxil causes problem, alternative medicines should be used.

Bupropion (wellbutrin) can cause weight loss. Venlafaxine, desvenlafaxine, duloxetine and nefazodone do not cause significant weight gain like SSRI. You need to discuss for above options with your treating doctor and can replace the paxil according to your need.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further if need.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
