Suggest Treatment For Worsened Vision Post Cataract Surgeries

Question: Hi, I have had problems with high blood pressure but it has been kept in check until,,, I had
cataract surgery and have not been able to see very well since. My farsighted eye was made
into mono vision . The next day I saw the OD and was told it was not done right. The next eye was
done several weeks later and it had been nearsighted. It is also now mono vision. Since, I have been dizzy.
needed 3 different perscriptions since they are changing all the time. And, I have cloud size floaters going across my vision all of the time. Could this be the cause of not being able to keep my
blood pressure undwe control. The other day in the dr ofice it was 208/120. we waited a while and it
slowly went down so he could do a procedure on my back. I live in pain but it is under control as is
or has been the BP. I have not taken it lately because I see dr.s and they take it. It has been higher
since the eye surgery. But lately it seems to be out of control. Could it be from the surgery on my eyes.
They are driving me crazy with my vision changing every other minute and dizzyness as well as all the
other things going on with worrying if I will lose my sight. Please help me , I am 70 and a woman.I am
writing a book and need my eyes a lot along with playing piano and golf.
YYYY@YYYY What specialty? I suppose OD in eyes I already had a neurologist and an MRI
all is fine. Ophhalmologist ? I can barely see what I am
typing because of the floaters. I had them in my Left, nearsighted
eye but not to this degree. Now the ones in the right eye which I never had before are huge and really interfferd with my right or
nearsighted eye. I am on 3 medications for blood pressure
furosemide 400mg tablets everyday, fosinopril 40mg everyday
and rmetoprolol er uccinate 25 tabs. I think that is all that is important. I saw an eye dr in Hawaii, he said there was a surgery
for one eye to relieve that eye. But one of the eyes i think the right or farsighted eye has an astigmatism. Nothing for that eye.
Thank you so much. By the way, the dr. said I could use a cane if I am dizzy. I had so many hip replacements that my shoulders
can not habdle that. That surgery turned out just great. As did all
of my other hip replacements and other surgeries. I go to a pain DR. AND I AM well taken care of by him. There is nothing new
in that situation. Thus My book I am writing. My first failed surgery.

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are because of increased blood pressure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history. From what I understand you have had cataract surgeries on both eyes (at different times). But on both occasions, the vision problems worsened. You developed floaters. You also have pain issues which seems to be under control (to an extent). There are occasions when you have had dizziness.

The symptoms of dizziness, fluctuating vision,floaters.... are because of increased blood pressure.

Hence treatment and control of blood pressure will help to cure all these symptoms.

After cataract surgery usually spectacles are required for either near vision or distant vision or both. Hence you require to consult your optometrist or ophthalmologist for refraction and correction and prescription of spectacles accordingly.

Cataract surgery is in no way responsible for pain.

Hence I advice you to consult your physician doctor for treatment of blood pressure and optometrist for refraction testing.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
