Question: I was given an antibiotic few weeks ago for vaginosis. odor went away but now wants to come back. I am a very clean person. only one sex partner for last 4 years.my m.d. advised me to eat yogurt to keep this away. not fond of yogurt but been eating a little. after sex which has been very little odor comes back for couple of days. have been told this is hard to get rid of. was on antibiotics for 3 wks prior to this problem. bad bacteria is out of whack. what else can I do. don't want this disgusting problem.
Brief Answer:
USE PROBIOTICS.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Because of the antibiotic usage, the normal vaginal flora gets depleted, leading to alteration of the pH, this predisposes to vaginosis and infections.
Right now, if you cannot increase your intake of yoghurt / curd, it is best to take an OTC probiotic.
Use of this probiotic for a month will restore normal vaginal flora.
( For eg . - Accuflora Pro-Biotic Acidophilus Digestive Support Caplets ).
Maintain meticulous perineal hygiene.
Get your partner screened for STDs .
Have protected sex till you are completely cured.
All the best
