Suggest Treatment When Having High Uric Acid Level

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Jul 2015
Question: I have high uric acid level. I had a gout attack in January and took some pills to relieve it. My uric acid level then was 6.6. I tried to watch what I ate to control my level (no fish, beer, bacon). My doctor told me to avoid gout attacks I had to keep my uric acid level below 6. I had my acid level checked last week and it was 8.3. I now take a pill every day to keep the level down. Are there foods that I can eliminate to minimize uric acid problems? The insert to the pills I take state citric acid should be avoided. Is this true? When I stopped drinking beer I started to drink lemonade and ate more fruit. Did this cause the uric acid level to rise from 6 to 8? What should I do?

Brief Answer:
Yoi need to take xyloric tablet

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. You can continue with your food changes but recent advances shows that food is no longer a cause of high uric acid. Rather it is your body which is either increasing production of uric acid or excreting less amount of uric acid.
You need to check urine level of uric acid to see if there is less amount of uric acid in the urine.
According to that we can start your further management.
You need to take Xyloric tablet to reduce production of uric acid. Probenecid causes increase clearance.
Citric acid intake does not produce increase uric acid so you can take lemonade. It is better then taking any alcoholic drink.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
