Suggest Ways To Manage Pain In The Knees Post Injury

Question: I was doing laundry the other day, Wednesday pm and while carrying a full heavy laundry basket up the stairs, both my legs slipped out from under me and my shins hit first, then both of my knees, legs both spreading to the outside of either side of my body wrenching my knees hard in a highly strained way. I could barely walk, immediately went down and have been off work the last two days (I don't feel confident walking quickly as I am a waitress at a high volume restaurant.) they both hurt to touch and it is uncomfortable to sleep. sometimes I hear a clicking noise, hopng that I have not torn or severely hurt them, as I have always been a This really scares me though. I have not been to a Dr. yet, just waiting to see if the pain level subsides.
Brief Answer:
Can be a ligament injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain and clicking noise is likely to be due to an internal ligament injury. This can be properly diagnosed only after an MRI scan.
Till then take rest, avoid painful activities and use a pair of knee supports to add stability to the joint. It will take 2-4 weeks to heal properly.
I hope this answers your query.
