Suggest Ways To Prevent Hair Fall

Question: Hi, quick questions here. I'm in XXXXXXX My dad is bald so I understand I will at some point completely loose all my hair. So is there a way to stop it? I was asked to use Tugain 5mg. I did see slight hair growth. However, my hair fall wouldn't stop. I need to know if there's a way to stop hair fall permanently without side effects? Because, it's pointless to continue to use the hair growth solution if my hair is still falling. Secondly, is Tugain the right product or is there something better out there? Thirdly, how long does the process usually take? Is using these solutions and taking hair fall tablets a lifelong practice? I appreciate your help. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Hair loss

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Male pattern baldness (MPB) is is based on genetic background. However inheritance involves many genes with variable penetrance.Hence you need not develop full baldness as your father has.
There are various other external factors which also contribute to hair loss. For example a diet high in animal fats (often found in fast food) and vitamin A is also thought to lead to hair loss.
Minoxidil (Tugain ) is not effective for all causes of hair loss. Hair regrowth can take 8 to 12 months. Treatment is continued indefinitely because, if the treatment is stopped, hair loss resumes again.
Alternate drugs:
Finasteride (Propecia) is used in male-pattern hair loss in a pill form taken on a daily basis. It has many side effects.
You can try some Ayurvedic or Unani therpay.

Thank you for responding. I understand the side effects of Finasteride. Is there another option? Ayurvedic or Unani will take a long time to show results but again there's no guarantee that it's permanent. So is there a more milder and a steady medicine that I can probably continue on a weekly or a monthly basis? Which will not only control the hair fall but also improve my hair growth and strength?

Thanks!

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
I would advise you to undergo hormonal profile like Serum testosterone,LH & FSH to rule out Androgenetic alopecia and thyroid function tests like T3,T4 & TSH and let me know the results.
There is however no magic cure for Male pattern baldness (MPB) except hair transplants.
