Brief Answer:
suggestions of some practical things to do

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thank you for using HCM,

What is bothering you is actually a very common symptom.
Some people are more prone to developing this. It may happen either because the immunity gets down and the people get more prone to develop symptoms of viral infections; some other have gastritis problems because of alcohool which makes them have a reflux and the refluxed acid during night, irritates the throat and causes sore; some might have stones in the folds of the tonsils, which cause this sore from time to time.

If I was your caring doctor, I would recommend to:
-- Try to have dinner and drink before a certain time in the evening, at least 3-4 hours before sleeping, and eat light dinners.
-- Gargles with water+salt and teas (like you are doing) are helpful with the pain, before sleeping or in the morning as soon as you wake up.
-- Notice if you sleep with your mouth opened and breath from the mouth during sleeping, because it might be the cause of the sore throat sometimes. Make sure to educated yourself to breath from the nose, if you're not doing it.
-- Try to not drink as much cold drinks, or drink it in small sips. Avoiding the cause of the problem, is the best step to preventing it.
-- You may have developed symptoms of viral infections sometimes after the sore throat. Thats because it may be the first sign of a common cold. In that case it should be treated accordingly to the symptoms. Using Ibuprofen, or other mild pain killers may help with the pain as well. Use them as needed.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. What should I be taking for my immune system? I've been taking vitamin C but should I be taking something else?

Brief Answer:
vitamin C in form of fruits, and other vitamins through a healthy diet

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

Vitamine C is good to help with immunity when its low. Taking it in forms of fruits is good for providing fluids and fibers too.
I would say, having a healthy diet, rich with all kinds of fruits and vegetables, proteins too (dairy foods at least 1-2/day), and drinking 2-3 litters of water/day is the best thing to take care of yourself, and it helps your immunity too.

There is something else that Im aware of, that is used for that purpose.

Take care.
