Suggest Ways To Rule Out Sinus Infection
Question: Hi, I blocked my left ear skydiving 6-24-17. After a round of antibiotics, and meds my ENT cleared me to dive again however my left ear never opened. My hearing and pressure tests were also normal . At this time I do have nasal drip and my question is if I use the Earpopper and if there is any sinus infection in that area could I possibly force that infection into my Eustachian tube and damage it? I am at my wits end as this is now causing panic attacks and don't know what to do.
Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube blockage

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare magic and thanks for putting up the query
You are probably suffering from otitis media due to eustachian tube blockage caused by nasal pathology or infection.
You should get a x-ray paranasal sinuses done.
Ear popper can lead to introduction of infection from throat or nasal cavity into the middle ear. So it is better to rule out any nasal or throat pathology before using that.
You should take an oral decongestant and nasal decongestant drops for few days. This will help to decongest the tube and relieve the symptoms.
In my opinion you should avoid diving till the ear is normal.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
