Taking Primolut N. Getting Menstrual Cramps. Is It Normal To Get Menstrual Symptoms?
Question: Hi, I'm taking primolut n with 2 days. Experiencing menstrual cramps.. Should be due my period in a day or so. Taking the tablets to delay my period while on holidays. Is it normal to get menstrual symptoms or does this mean tablets aren't working. Taking 3 tablets a day with the last 2 days.
hi,
Thanks for the query.
primulot n contains synthetic progesterone, norethisterone 5mg.
the possible causes of your cramps are,
-these tablets can cause abdominal cramps, bloating sensation of abdomen, nausea as side effects,
-they should be started at least 3 to 5 days before expected date of periods for better efficacy,
as once the process of menstruation started internally they cannot stop,
so your symptoms may be premenstrual symptoms,
you can take antispasmodic for relief of cramps with your doctor's advice.

Thank you for your answer, hopefully they will work as my period by my calendar is due on tues. that would be 28 days since the start of my last period, if I do get my period should I continue taking the tablets to stop it, or would it continue anyway?
hi,
if you get periods stop the pills as usually they cannot stop already established periods,
by stopping you can avoid symptoms due to drug side effects you are having.
if you do not get periods you can continue tablets till the time you want, then after stopping the tablets you will get withdrawal bleeding in 4 to 5 days.
Wish you Good Health, If you are satisfied with my response please rate the answer after closing the discussion.
