Total Knee Replacement On Both Knees. Has Hypothyroidism. Both Together Or One After Another?
Thanks for sending your query.
Though it is practical, economical and socially comfortable to have both knees operated at the same time (at least in some cases), we should not forget the other points against it listed below.
1. It may be too much of stress for patient being both knee operated.
2. Risk of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) increases.
3. It is also important to know if the operating surgeon and his team are capable of dealing with double surgery, COMFORTABLY.
4. If something goes wrong, like infection; then it may have more chances of going into both the joints.
Still, more or more surgeries are being done at one go with less and less complications. Please weigh the risk against the benefit here. Her treating doctor can take the best decision here and help you.
All the best.
