Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Menstrual cycle can undergo fluctuations depending on many factors.
Usually a cycle with duration of 28+/-7days can be taken as normal.
Delay in periods and change in pattern of the flow can be caused by factors like:
Stress and strain.
Diet changes, change in exercise pattern which can lead to weight changes.
Recent illness.
Thyroid hormonal disorders.
Anemia.
Poly cystic ovary disease.
All the above causes can affect the balance of hormones which regulate the menstrual cycle and can further lead to change in menstrual pattern.
One more thing is if you used any contraceptive measures previously and stopped now that can also lead to change in pattern of cycle.
As there was heavy flow for two days and completely subsided after four days there is less possibility for pregnancy.

So if you want to conceive better to track ovulation by natural methods like cervical mucus method or by ovulation kit and plan intercourse around that time which will increase chances of conception.

I'm guessing it must have been random fluctuations bc I haven't really had any of the other reasons you listed. I was just a little freaked out that since I had my son 4 years ago I have never had any change in the timing or how I have had my period and just found it very odd all the spotting I had and then the way it came late the one time we tried in so many years and then how it had flowed I also have not been on birth control for about 5 years we had been using condoms as birth control if that could have had any affect on it

Hi,

Usually condoms or any other barrier methods will not have any affect on menstrual cycle.
As minor alterations in the menstrual cycle are normal, no need to worry.
If delayed periods or any menstrual abnormality repeats in the future you can once consult gynecologist and undergo evaluation.

Wish you Good Health, If you are satisfied with my response please rate the answer after closing the discussion.
