Question: Me and my wife had unprotected sex on 11th, 15th and 16th july. The manstrwel cycle started on 7th and got closed on 9th of july. we had a doubt in our mind that it has conceived on 11th of july. if so how to be sure about that before the next period. Also we have heard that the baby who got ceieved within 7 days of sexual intercourse of period, used to have perennial health problem throught the life and also used to have physical challenges. so please advice us accordingly, what to do at the moment.
Also it may please added that we would like to have our child after 2/3 years and if it has got conceived, then what to do. Actually, if it has got concived we dont mind to welcome our baby, but it should not be a unhealthy one. as it is said that if it conceived due to intercourse with 7 days of manstrwel cycle, the child used to have health deficiency, so please advice us under these circumstances. and if it is true that the child used to have health deficiency we will abort it, and for that also advice us. in addition to it, i would also like to tell u that we have checked with prega news, but it has given negative report and one of friend told that prega news used to be accurate only when checked after 15 days of sexual intercourse. So can u please tell me that how to be confirmed whether it has concived or not.

Hello,

Thanks for the query

If your wife is having short cycles then she can conceive during this period i.e., within 9 days of the last menstrual period.

Sperms can survive upto one week in the cervix and life span of ova is 24-48 hrs so in short cycles the ovulation occurs very early and women can get pregnant.

HCG in the blood shows positive results 11 days after the conceiving and in urine 14 days after the conceiving.

If you have done home pregnancy test, you can wait for a week or so otherwise get her blood hCG done.

If she was not taking any medicine then she should not have any birth defects.

She should have taken EC pills or emergency contraceptive pills within 72 hrs of unprotected intercourse if you were not sure of continuing with it.

Now you have to wait for the report or till 7th of August for her periods to come, if she misses then you repeat the pregnancy test and it's your choice if you want to keep the baby or not.

I would suggest you to continue it as it is your first pregnancy.

Hope this answers your queries, In case of any doubts, I am available for the follow ups.

Wish her a healthy reproductive life.

Regards.

Ok, but if it has conceived due to the intercourse on the said dates, is there any chance that the baby which will be taking birth, would be healthy or will be having health deficiency. If my wife has conceived due to the intercourse on 11th, then by which date we will be confirmed by having blood/urine test ( please specify before the next period ). Is it possible to have an accurate report within 15 days. Also please let me know what are the symptoms of getting pregnent in the very early days...like in the first 10-15 days.

Hello,

Thanks again.

If her age is below 35 , she was not taken oral contraceptives or she has not taken any emergency pill then there are no chances of birth defects. She should start taking folic acid for the better growth of the foetus.

You have to wait for 14 days for the urine test to become positive.

You can count 14 days from 16th of july; that is 30th of july for the urine test and 27th july for the blood test. In simple, you can wait till she misses her period as it will give more accurate results.

Symptoms of pregnancy can be nausea , mood changes , frequency of urine etc. Watch out for these symptoms too.

Hope this answers your query. I am always available here for your further queries

Wishing her good luck

Hello,

Thanks once again ,

The cycle usually is of 28 days and ovulation usually occurs on 14th day and chances of conception are more in midcycle - between 11th to 16th day of the last menstrual period. We count from first day of the last menstrual period.

Short cycles are usually of 20 -25 days or even less than that in which ovulation occurs very early.

The best means of contacting me will be through this portal. You may write back to me on this website and I will get reply to you.

Wishing your wife good health

Best regards
