Wha Causes Nausea, vomiting And Sweating After Stopping Valium Intake?

Diazepam Withdrawal
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for asking from Health Care Magic
I have read your question and I can understand your problem. You have been on a number of medicines for depression and suicidal thoughts and with no significant relief. Currently the doses are Clonazepam 12 mg, Escitalopram 20 mg, Levomilnacipran 200 mg, Lamotrigine 400, Welchol 650 (for diarrhea) and Kelp 100 (for hypothyroidism). You were on diazepam and then shifter to ambien 10 mg cold turkey. Now you have symptoms like nausea, vomiting, sweating and severe anxiety.
Yes you are right the symptoms have got exaggerated due to withdrawal from Valium only. Valium is long acting benzo drug. You are taking Ambien (zolpidem) in-place of diazepam. Zolpidem is a z-drug and it is a short acting drug with actions different than diazepam. Both drugs are different drugs so sudden cessation has precipitated the withdrawal and this has got extended in long term or protracted withdrawal. Though clonazepam is also a benzo, but it is relatively short acting and this is the reason that even very high doses of clonazepam (12 mg) are not causing improvement in symptoms. One thing you can discuss with your psychiatrist that if possible he can reduce the dose of clonazepam a little bit and to add some drug or even diazepam back in prescription for some time. This will prevent the withdrawal symptoms.
Also even you are on two antidepressants and on one mood stabiliser still not getting proper relief. This can be the possible reason for your symptoms. Poor control of depression and anxiety is the reason of more severity of side effects. Also levels of thyroid should be checked once again. Kelp is a thyroid supplement but it is not a specific medicine for thyroid. Poor thyroid functions can potentiate depressive symptoms and high levels may be the reason behind the symptoms like sweating in TMJ, nausea, shakiness etc symptoms.
One more thing I would like to advise you. Get your vitamin B12 levels checked. Low vitamin B12 levels are most common finding in resistant depression. Start taking supplements especially containing cyanocobalamine and methylcobalamine.
Diets rich in Omega 3 Fatty Acids, or supplements of Omega 3 Fatty Acids will help in improvement in symptoms.
So to summarise most common reason for your symptoms appears to be withdrawal itself. Addition of even low doses of valium and some reduction of clonazeapm should help. Consult with your psychiatrist again for that.
Few things I would like to know-
- If you are taking any B12 supplement
- Recent test reports of thyroid hormones
- At what time you take Lexapro and Fetizimia
Thanks hope this helps you. You can ask again if you have more questions.
