What Are Bilateral Renal Parapelvic Cysts?
Probably an incidental finding & nothing to worry about unless symptomatic
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.
Bilateral renal parapelvic cysts are a common finding.
Do you have any symptoms like pain in your lower back, abdomen, fever, discomfort /burning while passing urine?
If any symptoms are present, you will need further evaluation and treatment of the underlying problem.
Rarely multiple cysts could be part of a malignancy and needs to be evaluated if it is suspicious (based on clinical findings and medical history).
Please note that the majority of cases do not signify any disease and do not need treatment.
I recommend that you see your doctor for a full evaluation and diagnosis.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
Depends on the cause and symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
Treatment options depend on the cause.
If an infection is diagnosed, antibiotics will be required. A stone may pass on its own or would need to be broken down to let it pass and this may need antibiotics as well.
An urological malignancy would need staging and classification (extent and type) to determine course of treatment. Blood tests, tissue biopsy and additional scans may be required to arrive at a diagnosis
If no symptoms and the cysts are benign, close follow up and monitoring of the cysts without any treatment would be the way to go.
I urge you to see your doctor who could point you in the right direction.
Hope I've answered your queries.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
