What Are My Chances Of Contracting HIV After An Anal Intercourse?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Apr 2015
Question: I had anal sex from a sex worker and I was the receiver. A condom was used and I don't think it broke. How big is the risk of acquiring HIV or something else? I'm very worried.

Would I have felt anything if the condom broke? Also, I've been going to the bathroom more (#2) and feel very sore. Almost feel a little wet down there at times.

Any insight?

Brief Answer:
I will urge you to get tested...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

HIV transmission is highest with anal intercourse. However considering the condom stayed intact throughout the act, the chance of HIV according to me isn't high. In such instance I will recommend you get the HIV test to allay any fears about HIV. Current HIV tests are accurate and some of those such as HIV DNA PCR as well as P24 combo antibody test provide accurate results within couple of weeks.

Hope I have answered your question.
