What Are Symptoms Of Kidney Stone Formation?

Question: Hi, I had very intense abdominal pain a little like a stitch or indigestion. Over the course of the day the pain became even more intense and spread to my sides and back, until I couldn't sit stand or walk properly and I could only take shallow breaths as it was so painful. This lasted several hours and then slowly subsided until it had gone. At no time was it painful to urinate although I did urinate frequently even though I had not had a lot of fluids, could it be the beginning of a kidney stone? XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Could be a stone
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Although the description was very specific about abdominal spasms, there are various hollow tubes inside the stomach that contract trying to pass out an undesirable thing. This description would not be specific for one reason. The undesirable thing could be a toxin, a stone, sludge as well.
But to answer you question yes a stone in the urinary tract or gall bladder can present this way. With the possibilities in mind I would go in favor of bacterial/viral toxin first and then gall bladder stone/sludge more than a kidney stone.
If the episode repeats you need an Ultrasound of the abdomen to start with after a general examination by a local PCP.
Hope this helps.
