What Are The Active Ingredients Of Modafinil?
Question: I ALREADY ASKED A QUESTION YESTERDAY FOR WHICH I HAD A FOLLOW-ON QUESTION, WHICH IS: WHAT ARE INGREDIENTS OF MODALERT? WILL IT INTERFERE WITH PLAVIX?
Brief Answer:
modafinil- modalert
Detailed Answer:
HI
Modalert contains modafinil.
This is the active ingredient.
The active ingredient of plavix is clopidogrel.
They do interact, the modafinil decreases the effect of the plavix which means that there is an increased risk of clotting
If you wish you can check by putting the term ' drug interaction plavix and modafinil ' into your search engine.
The interaction would come out

Thanks a lot for amplifying your former answer. Should I be worried about clots if I choose to continue taking a small dose of modalert? e.g., can I take 1/4 of 200 mg per day without risk? It helps me
Thanks so much, XXXXX

Brief Answer:
because of the risk, not a good idea unless your doctor says otherwise
Detailed Answer:
HI
It is good that it helps you and I wish that I could say 'take it, no problem' but with a history of almost complete blockage of a carotid, it would not be advisable unless your doctor says otherwise
Decreased effectiveness of the plavix means the plavix would not stop clotting as well, meaning that a clot can develop in that already nearly blocked blood vessel or another. If it occurs in this vessel , it would cause decreased blood to the brain.
You should consider discussing this interaction with your doctor. He or she may have an alternative medication that you can use instead of the modafinil.
If , after this discussion, you understand that the risks involved and are willing to take these risks, then taking the medication is up to you.
Because of the potential harm, I am unfortunately not able to tell you to take it, not even a reduced amount
As mentioned, all medical decisions are in the end finally yours to make,as with anyone so it would be cut to you.
If anything else unclear , can let me know
