What Are The Best Foods To Be Taken To Prevent Constipation?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 May 2016
Question: What are the best foods to prevent constipation. i had a rectopexy and resection in 2010 that went well. Unbeknownst to myself or my general surgeon the rectopexy was taken down later that year by a very incompetent surgeon. In September 2014 I had hernaia surgery with my excellent general surgeon, and he did laparoscopic exploratory and fixed the rextopexy. Things were excellent after thar. I had C Diff last year, and have been having a very difficult time since then! There seems to be a pocket behind my anastamosis that was exacerbated by the C Diff. I need to stay relatively loose, or I back up and have extreme issues having a BM. This week I have been running as high as a 103 degree temperature, along with extreme abdominal pain and bloating. I went to the ER twice, and they could find no cause for the fever. They did a flu test, multiple blood tests and cultures, a urine test, a CT, and a chest xray. No diverticulitis, colitis, After that I used magnesium citrate to clean out my bowel, and the pain has abated somewhat. I am still alternating between chills and sweats with my fever. My appetite is poor. I am waiting for my order of Floragen3 to come in tomorrow to repopulate the good bacteria. I have been at my son's house for almost two weeks, and will return home on Sunday. At home I also use natural psyllium husk and nuts. (My son is extremely allergic to nuts.) I need to be well enough on Sunday to fly home. In general I just need a LOT of help!

Brief Answer:
need to use the Syrup lactulose

Detailed Answer:
Welcome at HCM
I have gone through your query and being your physician I completely understand your health concerns.
As far as bowel movements are concerned, you have to modify your diet and lifestyle.
Add fiber to your diet and in my opinion apart from the psyllium you may need to add SYRUP LACTULOSE three times a day . It will greatly help you relieve your symptoms.
What my concerns is the raised temperature. There should be a cause for the fever. There is need to get the ULRASOUND SCAN to look specifically for the SUB DIAPHRAGMATIC REGION for any collection.. along with the FULL BLOOD COUNT < for evidence of infection>.

Meanwhile stay calm and use syrup lactulose to relieve constipation.
Get well soon
Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask
