Posted on Mon, 8 Dec 2014
Question: I am travelling to Vienna within days. The government there allows some sex studios that permitt sex without condom service. The incidence of STDs in vienna is low because of weekly ckeck up of girls.i am very very attracted to visit these sex studios because i do sex regularly in europian brothels but only with condom.. What is the incidence of STDs in these studios ?? and what is your advice to me when attending these brothels taking into consideration that sex with condom is very very distressing to me?? i am anxious to do sex lliberally without using condom?

Brief Answer:
Please do condom sex only.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Whatever be the frequency of health check up for casual sex workers, a single infected client with unprotected sex can cause a health scare.

By using condoms, both you and the sex worker will be protected against sexually transmitted infections like Herpes, hepatitis B, HPV, HIV, Syphilis, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea to name a few. Of these the most feared is HIV because search for complete treatment is still going on.

Transmission data of HIV by sexual means is given below
Receptive anal intercourse     138 per 10,000 Exposures
Insertive anal intercourse     11 per 10,000 Exposures
Receptive penile-vaginal intercourse     8 per 10,000 Exposures
Insertive penile-vaginal intercourse     4 per 10,000 Exposures
Receptive oral intercourse     low
Insertive oral intercourse     low

So you see that the risk for HIV transmission is still present in every sexual act without condoms.

Some diseases can take 3 to 6 months for symptoms to develop after infection and you cannot be certain about the health status in every girl working in brothels.

My suggestion will be to go for condom sex, whatever distress you might experience. This is for your personal safety and a step towards fighting spread of sexually transmitted infections.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.

Please find details requested below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in with an update.

I understand your concern and am ready to help you out.
Even though oral sex carries a lower risk of HIV transmission than other sexual activities, the risk is not zero. It is about less than 1 in 10000 exposures as mentioned below and you have to be really unlucky to get HIV from a single oral sex incident.

Regarding protected vaginal sex following guidelines are recommended,
(i) Consistent and correct use of latex condoms is highly effective in preventing sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
(ii) Consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk for many STDs that are transmitted by genital fluids (STDs such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis).
(iii) Consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk for genital ulcer diseases, such as genital herpes, syphilis, and chancroid, only when the infected area or site of potential exposure is protected.
(iv) Consistent and correct use of latex condoms may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated diseases (e.g., genital warts and cervical cancer).

From the above it is obvious that you are safe if having protected vaginal sex.
You might not get HIV from unprotected oral sex but the same rarely you can get a disease like herpes.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in with an update.

The risk of hepatitis B in sexual transmission is 50 to 100 times more than HIV in some populations. Transmission of hepatitis C is controversial and it is believed that HCV can be transmitted sexually, but that such transmission is inefficient.

Many people with Hepatitis B do not have symptoms and do not know they are infected. If symptoms occur with acute infection, they usually appear within
3 months of exposure and can last anywhere from 2–12 weeks.

Hepatitis C is less transmitted by sexual ways and its infectivity period after sex is not clear.

Hepatitis B can be taken care of if you take vaccination course before travelling.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in with an update.

There are anti retroviral drugs which can be taken for protection from HIV but there need to be taken for a considerable time to protect you , It is not like takig a drug only when you want to have sex.

As per recommendations made by US health authorities following guidelines are to be followed

1. Pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, is a prevention option for people who are at high risk of getting HIV. It’s meant to be used consistently, as a pill taken every day, and to be used with other prevention options such as condoms.

For PrEP, you take a pill every day by mouth. The pill that was shown to be safe and to help block HIV infection is called “Truvada” (pronounced tru vá duh). Truvada is a combination of two drugs (tenofovir and emtricitabine). If you take PrEP daily, the presence of the medicine in your bloodstream can often stop HIV from taking hold and spreading in your body. If you do not take PrEP every day, there may not be enough medicine in your bloodstream to block the virus.

If PrEP is taken daily, it offers a lot of protection against HIV infection, but not 100%. Condoms also offer a lot of protection against HIV infection if they are used correctly every time you have sex, but not 100%. PrEP medicines don’t give you any protection from other infections you can get during sex (like gonorrhea, chlamydia, and hepatitis), but condoms do.

So you will get the most protection from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases if you consistently take PrEP medicine and consistently use condoms during sex.

2. The Tenofovir gel used to prevent transmission of HIV was evaluated in 20011 but subsequently withdrawn from research due to its questionable effectiveness. Recently gels are still being investgated for their use in animal experiments.

3. These girls are helpless and might be victims of sexual exploitation on the promise of making good money and lifestyles.
