Question: Hi,
my mother stopped TB drugs exactly one year ago after taking it for 1 year as prescribed by the doctor.
Please tell me is she totally safe from recurrence?

Life time risk of recurrence is 5-10%.

I can understand your concern.
In general there is life time risk of 5-10% for TB recurrence.
So you can not say that she is totally free for recurrence.
There is some risk through out her life.
If in future she develops some disease then she might have reactivation tuberculosis because tb bacilli can reactivate when there is stress in the body.
So there is 5-10% life time risk of recurrence in any patient, also in your mother.
