What Are The Effects Of Abruptly Stopping Ambien?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Mar 2015
Question: I have been on hydrocodone for 13 years. I had an incident that put me in the hospital from some meds being mixed together. Now the doctor in the ER thinks I am trying to kill my self and my doctor cut me off cold turkey. He also cut me off cold turkey off ambien, which I have also been taking for 13 years. Does he have the right to do this? I tried pleading with him and my husband is even holding my meds and giving to me when I need. SHould I just find another doctor? I never really liked this one anyway . He was a replacement to a doctor I was going to for years

Brief Answer:
should find another doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

Every doctor should respect a client's autonomy. No doctor should force a modality of treatment to any of the patient. Rather, the doctor should suggest the various modes of treatment and help his patient choose what is best and suitable way out.

In my opinion, your doctor should not have done that. When your husband holds your medicines and is there to take care of you, the doctor should have told you about the pros and cons of going cold turkey off your medications.

If possible, consult another doctor.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to discuss further.

Kindly close the discussion if you are satisfied with my response and give your valuable feedback.

I wish you good health.
