What Are The Health Benefits Of Probiotics?

Question: Hello, I have a couple of questions regarding probiotics 10 billion active cultures, Protonix 40 mg, doc-q-lace 100 mg., and magnesium 400 mg. Do all of these require a prescription? What are the health benefits? How are levels or doses determined?

Hi. I was released from the hospital on 1/13/16. The mediations I asked about were prescribed by the hospitalist and are coming up to refilled. I took them as part of my discharge instructions. I was told that they are to promote good digestive health. I was curious to know if they were really necessary.

Hi,
You have recovered from pneumonia. You would have been on antibiotics.
So a course of probiotics would be beneficial to restore your gut flora.

If you do not have upper abdominal pain , if you are not constipated, I do not think the other medications you have mentioned are necessary.
