What Are The Possible Effects Of Norco On Foetus?
Question: I was weaning myself off of pain medication, norco, I abused, and I am 19 weeks pregnant and finished taking them altogether a few days ago, my question is when does the meconium start to form, will it test positive? Do the hospitals always drug test the meconium? What are the chances my baby will be born ok, the downs test, and neural tube defect test all came back ok. Just concerned about birth weight now. I am just concerned that I have harmed my baby with the abuse, another doctor told me all should be fine as I got off them early enough and after a week it will be out of my system and the baby's which made me feel better but I wanted to get another opinion.

I am happy to know after much efforts you have been able to get off this drug. There is no need to get worried about the possible effects on norco on your baby. You have stopped it early enough that there would be no residua quantities in your baby after delivery and he/she would not present with any withdrawal symptoms.
Meconium forms progressively throughout pregnancy and ore so in the later stages of th pregnancy. It would be very unlikely and even impossible for your baby to test positive for this drug after delivery.
The main problem with norco abuse is that it is often associated with the abuse of other potentially dangerous drugs to the child like alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, etc. Norco in itself alone would cause very little damage to the baby. This is used to look for high risk persons and not the direct consequences of norco.

Thank you SO VERY MUCH for the in depth answer you gave I truly appreciate it. I have not been using ANY other drugs or alcohol so that is not a problem. I was just concerned about the norco. I TRULY appreciate your answer and am planning on trying get to recover from my c-section (scheduled) with Tylenol if I can help it because I do have problems with it I began using it after my other c section then double foot surgeries I had in the past. It I'd a demon I will face I know for the rest of my life. but I have my baby as motivation to keep me "clean".

I hope it really works this time around. Should it not, other pain medications like ibuprofen, indomethacin, celebids, etc can be tried to control your pains without going back to this medications.
