What Are The Repercussion Of Thyroxine Intake By A Child?

Question: my child of 3 years took 4 tabs of thyroxin-100 microgram (Mcleods make) today in the morning. is it threatening.
Brief Answer:
This dose usually does not causes harm
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I won't get overly worried as the dose of thyroxine causing side effect is very high(10-20 tabs of 100 mic for this age).
But as the metabolism of every individual is different, I would suggest you to watch for symptoms of toxicity like irritability, nervousness, sweating, breathing problem, rapid heart rate or loose stools.
Symptoms usually appear within 4-6 house of consumption and rarely may be delayed upto 2-3 days.
If you notice any significant abnormality please consult your pediatrician immediately.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more queries.
Regards

During this period, what should be given in diet. AS suggested by the Doctor, should water be given in lesser amount? Anything change in the medicine prescribed by my doctor, if you would like to suggest or modify. I would like to tell that no symptoms as told by you, are still visible in my child.
Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
No specific dietery restriction is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Continue the medication as prescribed by your doctor. Give banana as it helps in increasing the bowel movement thus rapid transit of medicines.
You may also give water normally as I don't see any scientific reason to restrict the fluid.
Regarding food there is no need of any kind of restriction in diet as it's already been 4 hours.
