What Are The Repercussions After Missing The 5th Dose Of Rabipur Injections?

Question: Hello Sir/madam,
I was bit(may be nipped? 1cm on neck and didn't bleed much) by a stray dog and advised tt and rabipur. I completed my 4 doses on dates given; but missed the 5th dose by 2weeks. Can i take it now?
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Yes you can take your 5th dose although delayed.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
welcome to HCM,
yes you can take your 5th dose although delayed. But since you had no problems in the interim 2 weeks, I think you can stop worrying.

Thank you Ma'am.
Query about the 6th dose. I didnt take dog bite seriously until recently..and went through some search. I wish i had taken HRIG...since i missed that too..would 6th dose could help me someway? Will it do any harm if i take it? If 'no harm' then when should i take it if 5th dose is on 2nd nov 2016?

Brief Answer:
Hi, normal three doses are enough--0, 1, 7.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, normal three doses are enough--0, 1, 7. But since you had an open wound--two more doses--day 14 and 28 were advised. There is no need of sixth dose although fifth is delayed. Side effects of vaccine can be local irritation and flu like symptoms. If you are anxious, antibody levels can be tested after 6 months and booster dose given. Regards
