What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Jet-Dry Dish Detergent?

default
Posted on Fri, 15 Apr 2016
Question: I have swallowed Jet Dry dish detergent. Not a large amount, but enough that it has made me sick.My stomach is cramping, feeling nauseous, when I drink water or enything else my stomach cramps even worse.
this was not intentional! it just didn't wash out of my cycle and clung to the dishes. I filled ice trays and when they froze, I packed them into a glass of pepsi. thats when I started getting sick.
What can I do?

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question to HCM.

This is actually something that could be quite dangerous, unfortunately. Detergent has many caustic compounds in it, which can damage the esophagus and stomach enough to cause bleeding and perforation (tearing).

I would advice you to visit an emergency room at the earliest . They will draw blood and consider an endoscopy to make sure there is no permanent damage.
