Question: My father had pain in a nerve and we thought it ewas sprain when he was not able to bear the pain he got bandaided from a pehelwan. He felt that the bandaging was tight and the mulham(medicine used by pehelwan) was strong, my father did had discomfort but he thought may be that was the way. Since his bandaging has been opened he is having a continous pain in the upper region of right arm through elbow till the wrist for 5-6 days . Doctor had already done an x-ray of the arm and that x-ray came fine, he has now asked to go for an x-ray of the neck. My question is is it safe to get 2 xrays done just in a time period of 5 days or should we consult some other doctor. That doctor has already asked to consult a phsiotherapist, and he has told some exercises to be done. Are xrays safe if done in such a short period of time again? Should be consult another doctor?

Brief Answer:
I don't think you should change your doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

I don't think you should change your doctor.
He has rightly suggested for two x-rays and it is not harmful. There are no radiation hazard due to these X-rays.
Tight bandage shouldn't be practiced unless it is indicated for.It may compromise blood supply distally.

X-ray of arm is taken for excluding any local pathology.
But your father's findings may suggest nerve involvement. It is important to evaluate cervical spine in these conditions because nerve exit from neck and supply to arms. There may be compression of nerves in neck,so it is important to evaluate.
Nerve involvement is best evaluated by MRI scan,so yo father may need it after clinical evaluation.
Please don't worry about X-rays.These are basic and necessary investigations.
