Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that if a higher dose of anti-hypertensive drugs is taken, low blood pressure (also called hypotension) can occur.

Low blood pressure is experienced as symptoms like dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, blurring vision and even fainting.

But if the maximal daily dose of the drug is passed (if you take a dose higher than the maximal daily dose for a certain drug) other adverse effects related to the drug can occur.

For example if you take a dose of Valsartan higher than 320mg in a day, you can experience besides low blood pressure also symptoms like vertigo, upper abdominal pain, nausea, and loss of conscience.

Anyway, if you have taken a higher dose of vasartan than that recommended by your doctor these symptoms may last up to 12 hours and everything will turn back to normality in the next hours.

In such case, I would recommend avoiding straining physical activity or prolonged standing up position and take plenty of fluids to remain well hydrated.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Feel free to ask me again whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
